Alexandria hosts first Baseball5 national event in Egypt

Giza won the men's tournament, while Cairo claimed first place in the women's. The tournament was preceded by five years of training and development courses and tournaments.

The Governorate of Alexandria hosted, on 28 and 29 August, the Republic Championship, the first Baseball5 competition at a national level in Egypt.

The teams represented eight governorates: Cairo, Giza, Menoufia, Qalyubia, Alexandria, Marsa Matrouh, Damietta and Ismailia.

Giza won the men's tournament. Alexandria finished second and Qalyubia was third. Cairo won the women's tournament. Marsa Matruh finished second and Menoufia claimed third place.

The tournament was the climax of five months of training courses and tournaments.

Reda Mahmoud Farghali, the President and Founder of the Egyptian Baseball and Softball Federation, personally congratulated all the participants during the awarding ceremony.
