Andre Lachance has left national governing body Baseball Canada to become the director of human performance services with Cirque du Soleil, a household name in the world of circus performance.
Lachance served as the Business and Sports Development Director and as a consultant to Canada's women's national baseball programme.
He managed the Canadian Women's National Baseball Team since the programme's launch in 2004 and stepped down after the 2018 WBSC Baseball Women's World Cup.
He ran the programme successfully, leading Canada to silver medals in 2008 and 2016, and bronze medals in 2004, 2006, 2012 and 2018.
Canada is currently No. 3 in the WBSC Women's Baseball World Rankings.
At first, the native of Gatineau, Quebec, was reluctant when Baseball Canada asked him to manage the Women's National Team.
"When we started, we had nothing but a city, Edmonton, that put a bid together to host [the Women's Baseball] World Cup."
He has now very different feelings.
"Coaching the women's team made me a better coach, a better person, a better dad and gave me a better understanding of the reality for women's sports. I became an ally. There's no way that I would go back and make another decision. I don't regret any moment spent with those fantastic athletes," Lachance told the local press.
Lachance will maintain his position as a WBSC Technical Commissioner.
