Aragua win's U-19 women's baseball tournament at Venezuelan Juegos Deportivos

The Juegos Deportivos are a multi-sport event scheduled every other year since 1999 by the National Institute of Sports. Distrito Capital won the U-18 men's baseball tournament.

Aragua came from behind to defeat Distrito Capital in the final, 9-8, to claim the Women's Baseball title in Venezuela's Juegos Deportivos.

Distrito Capital scored eight runs on nine hits on starter Mariana Natera and reliever Valentina Linares. Starting pitcher Ruclaireth Tovar left after 4.1 innings, allowing only one run on two hits. Reliever Luz Thalia Faneites took the mound in the bottom of the sixth with an 8-3 lead.

Aragua scored five in their sixth at-bat and tied the game. Faneites left with two outs after allowing two runs on three hits and one walk. Eòoammos Victora and Arianny Corrales couldn't stop the bleeding, allowing a combined five walks.

Aragua center fielder Kenia Herrera singled off Corrales in the bottom of the fifth and batted in the winning run.

Lara defeated Carabobo, 12-1, and claimed the bronze medal game.

The Women's Baseball tournament at the Juegos Deportivos is a U-19 competition. Venezuela is currently No. 5 in WBSC Women's Baseball World Rankings.
