The Konex Foundation recognised the 2019 Argentina Men's Softball Team for its success at the last WBSC Men’s Softball World Championship and Pan American Games.

The Argentina Men’s National Softball Team 2019 was awarded with a special mention among the country’s top athletes, personalities and institutions of the last decade. The South American team had an historic 2019, winning the WBSC Men’s Softball World Championship in Prague, Czech Republic, and capturing gold at the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.

The 100 top sports nominees for the Konex Foundation Sports Awards were announced across 20 categories, as well as special mentions for those who are not included in these categories. The softball team is set to receive one of the special mentions along with the 2016 Davis Cup winning-team and the 2016 Argentina men’s field hockey team, gold medal winners of the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Over the next few months, a jury will choose the winners in each category and award the Diamond Konex to the best Argentinean athlete of the decade (2010-2019).

It’s the fifth edition of the Konex Foundation Sports Awards. Past Diamond Konex winners include sports legends Juan Manuel Fangio (1980), Diego Maradona (1990), Gabriela Sabatini (2000) and Emanuel Ginobili (2010).
