“Asia Insurance Phoenix Cup 2013” in Hong Kong concluded

The four-day “Asia Insurance Phoenix Cup 2013 – IBAF Hong Kong International Women’s Baseball Tournament” (www.hkphoenixcup.com) was successfully completed on 21 January, 2013 marked by the prize presentation dinner in Metropark Hotel Kowloon.

The four-day “Asia Insurance Phoenix Cup 2013 – IBAF Hong Kong International Women’s Baseball Tournament” (www.hkphoenixcup.com) was successfully completed on 21 January, 2013 marked by the prize presentation dinner in Metropark Hotel Kowloon.

Shilin High School of Commerce, Taiwan is the winner therefore able to keep the IBAF Defender Trophy.  Team Australia is the first runners-up, followed by Japan Far East Bloomers, Allies of Hong Kong, Guri-city NineVics Women’s Baseball Team, Korea, Taipei Vanguard of Taiwan and Development Team of Hong Kong.

The Phoenix Cup is an annual international women’s baseball event incepted in 2008.  It is financially supported by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Asia Insurance, yet the participating teams have to pay their participating fee.

At the opening ceremony of “Asia Insurance Phoenix Cup 2013” two senior government officials and a senior officer of Asia Insurance came to the baseball field to officiate at the opening ceremony.  More than 20 baseball delegates representing 10 Asian countries/regions and USA, who came to Hong Kong to attend the PONY Baseball Asia Pacific Zone meetings, also showed up at the opening ceremony.

As a tradition of the “Phoenix Cup”, the prize presentation dinner includes entertaining performance by each participating team, making the sport event also an occasion of cultural exchanges and a joyous show time.
