Asia qualifiers for WBSC Men’s and U-23 Softball World Cups to be played in Japan in September

The Asia U-23 Men’s Softball World Cup Qualifier will be played on 1-2 September, while the qualifier for the flagship WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup will run from 3-5 September.

Softball Asia has announced the host and dates of the U-23 Men’s Softball Asia Cup and the Men’s Softball Asia Cup, qualifiers for the respective WBSC Softball World Cups. The Asia U-23 Men’s Softball World Cup Qualifier will be played from 1-2 September, while the qualifier for the flagship WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup will follow 3-5 September. Both tournaments will be played in Shimanto, Kochi, Japan.

The Men’s Softball Asia Cup will be a seven-team event. No. 1 Japan, No. 13 Singapore, No. 16 India, No. 17 Philippines, No. 21 Hong Kong China, No. 27 Thailand and No. 28 Chinese Taipei will battle for two spots into the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup, scheduled for 26 November to 4 December in Auckland, New Zealand. 

The two qualified Asian nations will compete against No. 2 Argentina, No. 3 Australia, No. 4 Czech Republic, No. 5 New Zealand, No. 6 Canada, No. 7 USA, No. 9 Denmark, No. 10 South Africa and No. 18 Cuba in the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup 2022. The 12th team will be a wild card.

The U-23 Men’s Softball Asia Cup will be a three-team tournament between host Japan, India Singapore. The top two teams will advance to the WBSC U-23 Men’s Softball World Cup, which is scheduled for 24-30 October in Parana, Argentina. Australia, New Zealand and South Africa have already qualified into the inaugural U-23 Men's Softball World Cup.
