The baseball stadium of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 has been officially completed. The new state-of-the-art baseball stadium is located in Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province, China, 40 kilometres away from the main venue in Hangzhou.
Shaoxing Baseball Stadium consists of two international standard baseball fields and one physical fitness training centre. The landscape design of the stadium fully combines the local characteristics of Shaoxing's "water town". The canopy adopts a membrane structure, which looks sparkling from the air, like ripples of water.
The construction of the stadium, which started in June 2020, adheres to the "green" concept. Modern technology has been used both on the outer wall and the roof of the stadium, which can produce self-cleaning effects and purify the air, reducing subsequent operation costs and contributing to environmental protection.
According to Xu Chen, the president of the Chinese Baseball Association and WBSC Baseball Division Board Continental Vice President Asia, the completion of the Shaoxing Baseball Stadium marks a new stage of development of Chinese baseball. It can also undertake higher-level international events in the future.
The baseball competition of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 will be held from 11-24 September.
