The baseball stadium at the Shaoxing sports and cultural centre, the venue for the XIX Asian Games, has passed its technical inspection.

The deputy director of the Games, Lin Wen Ming, recently reviewed all the features of the new venue, including clay maintenance, turf and scoreboard. Ding Feng, the deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Baseball Association, demonstrated the venue's functional design.

Zhou Zhong, secretary-general of the baseball-softball operation team, commented: "We will continue to refine to meet all the requirements of the technical delegate. Before the Games, we will host a test competition.

The softball field was approved earlier this year.

The XIX Asian Games were initially scheduled for September 2022 in Hangzhou, but the Olympic Council of Asia postponed them to 2023 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The new dates will be announced at a later stage.

The programme includes 61 disciplines in 40 sports, including baseball and softball.

The Asian Games' inaugural edition was in New Delhi, India, in 1951.
