The WBSC Athletes Commission, co-chaired by former Olympians Justin Huber (Australia) and Maria Soto (Venezuela; photoed above), met virtually in July. All members of the commission participated in the online meeting, including Randolph Oduber (Aruba), Ashley Stephenson (Canada), Bruno Motroni (Argentina), Erika Polidori (Canada) and Pauline Prade (France).

WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari opened the meeting briefing the commission members about the initiatives of other WBSC Commissions, hosting and planning for webinars and workshops.

The WBSC Athletes Commission is planning on holding webinars going beyond training and into the psychological support of athletes, who are being challenged to remain mentally strong and healthy in these difficult times.

The commission also intends to run webinars on COVID-19 prevention for the safe return of baseball and softball.

Co-chair Justin Huber informed that the Safeguarding Policy is still under review with the help of the WBSC Legal Commission. Once the policy is completed, the WBSC Athletes Commission intends to run webinars on the subject.

On a final note, co-chair Maria Soto reaffirmed that the commission that represents the players -- the WBSC Athletes Commission -- intends to be represented at every WBSC event.

"We will be there to support athletes and spread the word on the work we do," Soto said.
