Final Baseball Qualifier: Australia confirmed as Oceania representative

The Australians join the Netherlands, Chinese Taipei and China. The other two participants will be the runner up and the third-place finisher of the Americas Qualifier in March.

The WBSC Oceania Executive Board has confirmed Australia will represent the region at the Final Baseball Qualifier. The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games qualification tournament is scheduled for 1 to 5 April in Taichung and Dou Liou, Taiwan.

Australia is the fourth National Team to advance to the six-team tournament. The Netherlands qualified in September as the runner up of the Europe/Africa Qualifier played in Parma and Bologna, Italy. While Chinese Taipei and China earned their right as they finished as the best two teams (in first and third) at the Asia Baseball Championship 2019 not to have already qualified for Tokyo 2020. The hosts Chinese Taipei defeated Japan (already qualified for Tokyo 2020 as hosts) 5-4 in the Championship game, while China beat Korea, 8-6, in the third-place game.

The other two participants will be the runner up and the third-place teams from the America's Qualifier, to be played in Arizona, USA, from 22 to 26 March.
