Austria wins women’s Softball Four Nations Tournament in Vienna

The tournament, which included Austria, Croatia, Hungary and Slovakia, was a tune-up for this July's European Women’s Softball Championship in Spain.

World No. 29 Austria posted a 3-1 record at the Four Nations Tournament on home soil in Vienna to finish atop the 10-game event. No. 28 Croatia, No. 37 Slovakia and the U-22 Croatian team posted 2-2 records, while Hungary went 1-3 in the international event.

The tournament was played at Ballpark Spenadlwiese in Vienna, with the following scores: 

Saturday 21 May

  • AUT 6-7 SVK
  • HUN 4-12 CRO
  • CRO 1-16 AUT 
  • U-22 CRO 10-8 SVK
  • HUN 6-7 U-22 CRO

Sunday 22 May

  • HUN 13-7 SVK
  • SVK 7-0 CRO
  • U-22 CRO 7-14 CRO
  • HUN 4-14 AUT
  • AUT 15-0 U-22 CRO

The tournament was a tune-up for this year’s European Women’s Softball Championship, to be held in Barcelona, Sant Boi, Viladecans and Gavà, from 24-30 July. The 22-team event will serve as the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup European qualifier.
