Barrio Abajo claim first ever Colombian Men’s Softball Liga Elite title

They defeated Tractores de Bolivar in the final to claim the national league title.

Barrio Abajo from Atlantico claimed their first ever national league title after beating Tractores de Bolivar 4-1 in the final game of the Colombian Men's Softball Liga Elite played last weekend at Eduardo Porras Stadium in Sincelejo.

Right-handed pitcher Luis Amaya was credited with the win, allowing two hits and one run in a complete-game effort, while the loss was charged to Ramiro Escorcia.

Richardson Villalobos was named MVP of the tournament. Toros de Sincelejo completed the podium, while La Tribu de Santa Marta completed the field of teams.

The new national league also served as a selection stage for the Colombian national team that will represent the country at the Central American and Caribbean Games from 23 June to July 8 in San Salvador.

“We’ve closed a great, top-level tournament. This event helped us to form our national team. With this preparation, I believe they will be at their best at the Central American and Caribbean Games," Colombian Softball president Edwin Díaz said.
