Baseball, softball feature on the programme of the Central American and Caribbean Games

The baseball tournament is scheduled from 25 June to 1 July, while the softball tournaments will run from 24 to 29 June (men's) and from 2 to 7 July (women's).

The 24th Central American and Caribbean Games will open in San Salvador, El Salvador, on 23 June 2023.

Yamil Bukele, the president of the Organizing Committee, introduced the event's logo stating that it is meant to represent "movement, the continuing evolution of the host country."

The baseball tournament will open on Sunday, 25 June, at the Parque Nacional de Pelota Saturnino Bengoa and run through Saturday, 1 July.

Baseball was on the Central American & Caribbean Games programme in the inaugural edition (1926, Mexico City) and has remained part of it throughout its history. Puerto Rico is the defending champion, but Cuba has dominated the event with 15 gold medals. Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic have three, and Venezuela and Colombia have one.

The softball venue is located at the Estadio de Softbol Pablo Arnoldo Guzman. The men's softball tournament is scheduled from 24 to 29 June. The women's softball tournament will run from 2 to 7 July.

Women's softball was on the programme of the 1946 edition in Barranquilla, Colombia. Then both men's and women's softball became a permanent feature starting with the 1974 edition in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Cuba is the men's defending champion, while Puerto Rico won the women's tournament of the last edition (2018, Barranquilla, Colombia). Cuba have won four men's gold medals, followed by Venezuela (3), Dominican Republic (2), Bahamas, Mexico and Netherland Antilles (1). Puerto Rico have won five women's gold medals, followed by Venezuela (3), Cuba (2), Belize, Bermuda and Dominican Republic (1).
