Baseball5 African Championship: Zimbabwe baseball, softball governing bodies team up to field Baseball5 National Team
Zimbabwe baseball and softball leaders are working together to grow the game in the country.
The Zimbabwe Baseball Association (ZBA) and the Zimbabwe Softball Association (ZISA) partnered to select the country's National Team that will compete in the Baseball5 African Championship, to be played in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, from 23 to 26 May.
ZBA president Thembani Moyo and ZISA president Stonard Mapfumo sealed the agreement during a milestone meeting.
A steering committee formed by personnel of the governing bodies has overseen the whole selection process, both the technical and financial.
After Kenya, Zimbabwe is the second country participating in the Baseball5 African Championship to use this joint model to select the National Team.
Amongst the countries participating in the Baseball5 African Championship, South Africa is the other one with separate federations. Tunisia, Ghana, Uganda, Egypt, Tanzania and Burkina Faso have combined baseball-softball governing bodies.
