Baseball5 courses attract more than 100 coaches in Argentina

The programme, which is funded by Olympic Solidarity and the WBSC, is called the Development of the National Sports System.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and the Argentina Baseball Federation (FAB) organised five Baseball5 coaching courses in the South American nation, with the support of Olympic Solidarity. The courses took place in Salta, San Luis, Córdoba, Chubut and Buenos Aires City, covering the Argentina geography from north to south.

WBSC Instructors Andrea D'Auria and Pablo Leone were sent to tour the provinces of Salta, San Luis, Córdoba, Chubut and Buenos Aires to lay the foundations for the Youth Olympic Games' sport.

According to FAB, this is the first of three stages of the programme. The second stage is planned for April, with an intensive training camp in Buenos Aires with a group of coaches selected among those who participated in these inaugural five courses; and the third will take place in October with the implementation of a national competition.

"The motivation is Dakar 2026, but there is also the WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup in 2027," said Jose Contreras, Baseball5 National Director, to El Tribuno newspaper. "We are going to work with the 2008, 2009 and 2010 categories. The intention is to have international filming and appear in the world ranking."
