Baseball5 included as part of the 2024 Little League World Series
Players from the 19 participating teams will have access to a multipurpose facility within the Little League complex, which "directly aligns with Little League's belief in multi-sport participation." It's another milestone for the five-on-five version of baseball/softball.
The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) announced that Baseball5 will be part of the 2024 Little League World Series. The World Series participants will have the opportunity to experience the fast-paced urban version of baseball/softball in a brand-new multipurpose playing facility custom-built to allow the young athletes to play various sports during their time in Williamsport.
"The new facility directly aligns with Little League's belief in multi-sport participation, rather than specialization, and provides event participants an opportunity for free play, creating fun and memorable experiences with other kids from around the world," stated Little League International's website.
WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari commented: "It's another milestone for our dynamic urban discipline Baseball5, which is proving popular around the world as it heads towards its Olympic debut at the Youth Olympic Games Senegal 2026."
The 2024 Little League World Series will be held from August 14 to 25 at Little League International Complex, Lamade & Volunteer Stadiums, in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, USA.
Ten international teams will participate in the 19-team tournament: Kuei-Shan Taoyuan (Chinese Taipei), Hills Sydney (Australia), Whalley Surrey (Canada), Aruba Center Santa Cruz (Aruba), Santa Clara (Cuba), South Czechia Brno (Czechia), Johoku Tokyo (Japan), Cardenales Barquisimeto (Venezuela), Matamoros (Mexico), and Radames Guayama (Puerto Rico).
