Baseball5 continues its expansion in Argentina, with more than 1,000 girls and boys in Salta having participated in “Salta Plays B5” (“Salta Juega B5”), a series of activities held from 20 September to 2 October that included a series of clinics in schools and a Baseball5 tournament. The new discipline was introduced in the country three years ago, during Baseball5’s exhibition alongside the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games.
From 20-23 September, almost 500 kids from 14 schools participated in Baseball5 introductory clinics in Salta city. Half of them were part of the “Salta Juega B5” official event from 24-25 September, held during the Senior and U-23 Argentina National Baseball Teams training camp. The kids played a series of Baseball5 games and also had the opportunity to watch the National Baseball Team training sessions.
The “Salta Juega B5” finished on a high note on 2 October, with an 11-team, 110-player Baseball5 tournament at Parque Bicentenario, in Salta Capital. After the Opening Round, the top teams played the final, where Popeye Red defeated Reivers. Santa Ana completed the podium.
The overall activity also included clinics and games in General Mosconi, San Antonio de los Cobres, and Campo Quijano; and introductory classes to 350 Physical Education teachers.
“Salta Plays B5” was conducted by Victor Aramayo, Jose Ortuño, Natalia Pastrana and Jose Contreras. Aramayo, who was introduced to Baseball5 during YOG in Buenos Aires, has been instrumental in the growing of the discipline in the South American country.
