Greece: Baseball5 lands in schools

Almost 500 boys and girls from the Zois Education school are being introduced to the new street/urban game.

The Greek Softball Federation a few months ago launched a Baseball5 school program that will help promote and develop baseball and softball in the country. Almost 500 boys and girls from the Zois Education school attended the first course back on 23 July, to celebrate the Olympic Day.

Babis Trigonakis, assistant coach of the Greece National Softball Team and Baseball5 head coach, was in charge of the introdtory trainning sessions, with the help of Katerina Zioga and Evdoxia Kalogiannidi, members of the U-22 National Softball Team.

Two different groups participated in the activity, the first one made by 250 students from 5th & 6th graders (11-12 years old) and the second one by 240 high school students (13-14 years old).

The activity plan includes weekly sessions for all the kids, aiming to enjoy and learn the game.
