Baseball5 Youth African Championship: Eight teams to compete in Ghana's Cape Coast for two spots in inaugural WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup

The opening round will run from Tuesday, 16 May, to Friday, 19 May. The top four finishers will compete for the World Cup spots in the semifinals on Saturday, 20 May. The African Championship game is scheduled on Sunday, 21 May.

Cape Coast, Ghana will host from 16 to 21 May the Baseball5 Youth African Championship, a qualification tournament for the first-ever WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup.

World No. 6 South Africa, No. 8 Tunisia, No. 24 Tanzania, No. 28 Zambia, No. 33 Ghana, No. 37 Burkina Faso, and unranked Benin and Nigeria will compete for two spots in the global event scheduled for later this year.

The opening round will run from Tuesday, 16 May, through Friday, 19 May, and include seven games per day.

The semifinals between the top four finishers are scheduled for Saturday, 20 May, at 3 pm and 4:30 pm local time.

The winners will qualify for the WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup and compete for the African Youth Baseball5 title on Sunday, 21 May, at 3 pm local time.

Four National Teams have already qualified for the inaugural WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup. France defeated Türkiye in the final of the first European Championship in November 2022. Chinese Taipei won the Youth Baseball5 Asia Cup in February. Runner-up China and third-place finisher Korea also qualified.
