Blind Baseball develops further in Great Britain, Italy

UK Blind Baseball took the game to the Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind. The Italian Association Baseball for the Blind is working on the project of a youth league.

Baseball for the Blind took a couple of important steps in Great Britain and Italy.

On Monday, 16 May, UK Blind Baseball introduced athletes of the Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind. The new players became familiar with hitting via the sound of the ball, running the bases, blocking the sound ball and throwing by targeting a sighted assistant. Coaches John Eaton and Nathan Potts conducted the activity.

The Italian Association Baseball for the Blind (AIBxC, a WBSC Associate Member) will introduce visually impaired youth to baseball for the blind during an open day. The event, sanctioned by the Italian Paralympic Committee and the Italian Baseball Softball Federation, is scheduled for Sunday, 22 May, at the Leoni field in Bologna and represents the first step towards a youth blind baseball league.
