Brand new Roberto Clemente stadium in Masaya, Nicaragua, to be inaugurated for U-23 Baseball World Cup Americas Qualifier in November

A second stadium will be inaugurated in 2024 in León, approximately 120 kilometres away from the Roberto Clemente Stadium.

Nicaragua will host the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup Americas qualifier from 24 to 30 November with 12 participating teams looking for a spot in next year’s World Cup. The tournament will be played at Estadio Nacional Soberania in Managua, and the Estadio Roberto Clemente in Masaya, a brand new building for 4,026 fans to be inaugurated for the continental event.

The construction of the Roberto Clemente stadium started on 3 June 2021 and will open its doors on 24 November, with a game between Puerto Rico and Nicaragua on Day 1 of the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup Americas qualifier.

The 20-million dollar build, located at the shore of the Masaya Lake, includes a giant screen and state-of-the-art facilities for media, with modern broadcast booths and media stands. It will serve as home of the Fieras de San Fernando, participating team of the German Pomares league.

This is not the only stadium soon to be inaugurated soon in Nicaragua. Approximately 120 kilometres away from the Roberto Clemente Stadium, the 7,000-fans Héroes y Mártires de Septiembre stadium in Leon is expected to be finished in 2024, with an investment of 27 million dollars.
