BRISBANE – The Brisbane Bandits will enter a new era in the 2013/14 Australian Baseball League season, calling historic Holloway Field home for the upcoming campaign. The Bandits, who played their first three ABL seasons in the RNA Showgrounds, will be moving to a purpose-built baseball facility for their fourth year.

“We are honoured the ABL has chosen to make Holloway Field the home of Baseball in Queensland,” said Mark Ready, President of Windsor Royals Sports Club Incorporated, the entity in charge of Holloway Field. “We have a lot of work to do, but we are looking forward to seeing our facility upgraded into one of Australia’s top baseball diamonds. The Brisbane Bandits will feel right at home here.  This is a great thing for the Windsor Royals Baseball Club, and a great thing for the Brisbane baseball community.”

Holloway Field’s location is a home run for Bandits fans. Close to Brisbane’s CBD with a range of easy access options, the new home of the ABL in Queensland will draw fans by car, bicycle, bus, train, or foot. Furthermore, the ballpark’s existing baseball-specific infrastructure and intimate seating arrangement mean Bandits fans will be treated to a vastly improved in-park experience, including better value catering options, and will be closer to the action than ever before.

The Bandits will be setting up shop in one of Australia’s most historic baseball venues. The grounds at Holloway have seen Claxton Shield contests in years past and hosted some of the nation’s brightest stars. As a dedicated baseball facility, Holloway will offer the Bandits an array of opportunities that will include other exclusive baseball events.

“I am excited about the return of the Brisbane Bandits to one of Queensland’s iconic baseball fields that will have the benefit of a long-needed facelift and upgrade,” said Ben Foster, General Manager of the Australian Baseball League.

“Being able to provide Brisbane fans with a centrally located, baseball-specific venue will only serve to enhance their experience and the ongoing success of the Bandits. Some of Queensland’s most significant baseball victories have been hard-won on Holloway Field, and we are looking forward to bringing some of that history and magic to a whole new generation of baseball fans.”

The Bandits will undertake their move in short order. Opening Day for the fourth season of ABL action is less than 100 days away, with Brisbane hosting their initial home series during the campaign’s first week from 1-3 November against the Adelaide Bite.
