British ace Georgina Corrick having a dream season at NCAA Division I Softball

Corrick holds a perfect 13-0 record, with a 0.08 ERA for the season. She has allowed only one run in 87.1 innings, while striking out 127, with only five walks.

Great Britain’s ace Georgina Corrick is having a monster season in the NCAA Division I Softball, playing for the University of South Florida. The right-hander has swept the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week honours this season, earning all four awards that have been given.

Her numbers speak by themselves about Corrick’s dominant season. She has a perfect 13-0 record, with a 0.08 ERA for the season. She has allowed only one run in 87.1 innings, while striking out 127, with only five walks.

This past Sunday, Corrick tossed the first perfect game of her career, and the fourth time in USF program history, by sitting down 15 consecutive batters without allowing a baserunner in a 9-0, five-inning win over Florida A&M. She struck out eight batters and threw just 56 pitches

During the weekend, she also passed the 1,000 career strikeouts threshold, becoming the second pitcher in program history to reach a career four-digit strikeout total. She now sits at 1,011, just 92 behind Sara Nevins for the most in program history.

"It was definitely a really high intensity moment," Corrick told the USF website. "Going in, I wasn't really worried about the number or it being 1,000. We were in a tight situation with a runner on third and I just wanted to make sure I gave our team the best chance that I could to win."

A then 20-year old Corrick represented Great Britain during the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup 2018, helping the British squad finish in 11th place. She appeared in eight games, posting a 2-2 record with a 4.94 ERA in 34 innings pitched.

One year later, she pitched Great Britain to second place in the WBSC Softball Europe Afirca Olympic Qualifier, coming one-game short of advancing to Tokyo 2020. She appeared in four of the five games, and tallied two wins and a loss, including a pair of complete-game wins against Netherlands and Czech Republic, to finish with a 2.00 ERA.
