The hosts Bulgaria and Greece are the winners of the Balkan Triple Ball in Sofia. Bulgaria won the baseball and the coed slowpitch softball tournaments. Greece won the women’s fastpitch softball tournament.
Bulgaria went undefeated to earn the second Balkan Championship title in a row. After beating Greece (28-0), Serbia (9-4) and Romania (10-0) in the round robin, the hosts defeated Serbia, 20-5, in the final. A 14 game fifth at bat cut the game short. Serbia had scored 2 in the top half of the frame to make it a one run game

Also Greece confirmed as the Balkan Champion in women’s fastpitch softball.
To earn a spot in the final Greece had to fight hard to win, 5-4, against Serbia after losing, 6-5, a close game to Bulgaria. Then in the final Greece got started with 3 runs, added 3 in the second at bat and had no need to look back.
Greece outscored, 9-0, and outhit, 11-1, Bulgaria.

Bulgaria defeated Serbia, 18-7, and claimed the coed slowpitch softball Balkan title.

The tournament proved to be a success for the Baseball and Softball Federation of Bulgaria.
The success of the Balkan Triple Ball indicates a lot of potential for baseball and softball in the Country. The goal is rising awareness and interest among the younger generation.
