Caimanes de Barranquilla repeat as Colombian Professional Baseball League champions

They defeated the Vaqueros de Monteria in five games. Major leaguer Harold Ramirez earned MVP honours. Jose Mosquera, who led Colombia to a bronze medal in WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup, managed the champions.

The Caimanes de Barranquilla, managed by Colombia's U-23 National Team skipper Jose Mosquera, defeated the Vaqueros de Monteria in five games to repeat as champions of the Colombian Professional Baseball League (LCPB). The final series was played at the Edgar Renteria Stadium in Barranquilla.

After losing game one on Saturday, 15 January, the defending champions swept the Vaqueros and clinched the title on Thursday, 20 January, with a 4-3 win.

Right-fielder Harold Ramirez, who played 99 games for the Cleveland Indians of Major League Baseball (MLB) during the 2021 season, hit a two-run home run off Elniery Garcia in the top of the first to put the Caimanes ahead.

Six Caimanes pitchers limited the Vaqueros to eight hits. Elkin Alcala, who started three games for Colombia at the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup, including the bronze medal game against Cuba, went four innings, allowing two unearned runs. Sugar Ray Marimon earned the win, pitching 1.1 innings in relief. Ronald Ramirez earned the save.

Harold Ramirez earned MVP honours.
