Canada to complete national team selection process for U-18 Baseball World Cup in Florida

Manager Greg Hamilton will take 25 players to the US and trim the final roster to 20 after three exhibition games.

Baseball Canada announced that, after opening camp on 25 August in Ajax, Ontario, the U-Canadian U-18 National Team roster will be announced for the upcoming XXX WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in Florida.

Veteran manager Greg Hamilton is currently working in Florida with a 25-man roster and will need to trim it to 20 by the start of the tournament.

Canada will practice for three days at the Toronto Blue Jays facility and then will play three warm-up games against the United States (Sunday, 4 September), Australia (Monday, 5 September) and Chinese Taipei (Tuesday, 6 September).

Hamilton's staff includes assistant coaches Rob Butler, Pete Orr, Chris Reitsma and Larry Pearson.

World No. 12 Canada will compete in group A and face No. 3 Korea, No. 5 USA, No. 8 Netherlands, No. 25 Brazil and No. 26 South Africa.

The XXX WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup is set to open in Sarasota and Bradenton on Friday, 9 September.
