WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup alumni display power at MLB, NPB levels

USA's Triston Casas was the MVP of the 2017 edition of the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup, helping the US win a gold medal before starring for his country at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games where USA won an Olympic silver medal. He is now playing for MLB's Boston Red Sox. Kotaro Kiyomiya helped Japan win bronze at the U-18 World Cup 2017 and earned NPB All-Star Game MVP honours.

After two heavy thunderstorms hit Sarasota, the WBSC Technical Commission decided to postpone the game to Sunday, starting at 09:30 local time. MLB approves rule changes to speed up the pace of play, improve players' safety

A pitch clock, limitations to shift, and bigger bases will be in the rules of play during the 2023 season. "These changes will make the game even better and more enjoyable," commented Commissioner Rob Manfred.

WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup Day 1: USA, Mexico, Brazil and Japan win. Korea-Canada postponed

Rain delays affected all games including the opening game Korea-Canada, which was postponed. Japan shut out Italy. Brazil came from behind and walked off South Africa. Mexico built a comfortable lead early. The Netherlands hit two homers, and the US won it on a grand slam by Bryce Eldridge.
