The XXXIV Central American and Caribbean Games are set to open at 7 pm (local time) at the Jorge El Magico Gonzalez Stadium in San Salvador, El Salvador, one of the 21 venues for the event. The stadium, constructed in 1932, was largely renovated in 2002 and has a seating capacity of 34,000.

Baseball Competition
Cuba-Mexico and Venezuela-Puerto Rico will open the baseball tournament on Saturday, 24 June, at the Parque Nacional de Pelota Saturnino Bengoa in San Salvador.
World No. 3 Mexico, No. 6 Venezuela, No. 7 Cuba, No. 10 Dominican Republic, No. 11 and defending champions Puerto Rico, No. 17 Nicaragua, No. 32 Curaçao and No. 59 El Salvador are the eight participants.
After group play, the top two finishers will play for the title, and the third and fourth-place teams will compete for a bronze medal. The finals are scheduled for Saturday, 1 July.
The top four finishers will qualify for the XIX Pan American Games baseball tournament, scheduled in October in Santiago, Chile.
The host nation Chile, No. 14 Panama (winners of the Buenos Aires, Argentina, qualifying tournament), No. 15 Colombia (winners of the Junior Pan American Games) and No. 24 Brazil, also winners of the South American Games, are already qualified.
Softball Competition
The men's softball tournament also opens on 24 June. World No. 8 Venezuela, No. 9 Cuba, No. 10 Mexico, No. 19 Dominican Republic, No. 24 Colombia, Team WBSC and El Salvador are the participants.
After round robin play, the top two teams will play for the title and the third and fourth-place finishers will compete for a bronze medal. The finals are scheduled on Thursday, 29 June.
The women's softball tournament will start on Sunday, 2 July.
