Chia-Yung Chang hits inside the park home run, Chinese Taipei beat Botswana

Chia-Yung Chang delivered the highlight of the afternoon with an impressive inside the park home run.

Chinese Taipei scored multiple runs in their three at bats against Botswana to grab their second win of the tournament and even their record. The third-ranked team in the world topped the African squad by 10-0, in four innings.

Chia-Yung Chang delivered the highlight of the afternoon with an impressive inside the park home run, displaying an exciting mix of hitting ability and speed to produce the last two runs of the game in the bottom of the third.

For Chinese Taipei, Ching-Yu Chen and Chia-Chen Tsai combined for the four-inning shutout.

With a 2-2 record, Chinese Taipei will close tomorrow the Opening Round against Australia.

Chang told the WBSC she was pleased with the improvement in results after Chinese Taipei had lost their first two games before coming back to win their next two: "All we think about is winning, from the first game. Even after we lost two games, our plan was to just win. After two defeats, we encouraged everybody and cheered up. We worked on our batting a little."

"We didn't feel any pressure because of the crowd. We just kept our own minds and focused."

Next game: "Team Australia is very strong. All we can do is try our best and show what we practice. We'll do our best to win."

Botswana catcher Magdeline Mabutho said, despite the result she was happy with the performance. "Today we were able to hit balls into the field. There is progress from yesterday to today so I'm happy.

"There has been improvement in our offence. We've been able to hit the ball into the field, more than we did in previous games."

"My player of the day would be Tshegofatso Gaetepele, our first base. She was able to hit the ball, she was able to save three times today at first base. She was good.

"We are very proud to represent our country. We had a good experience. We got to learn a lot. We got to play against big players. It made us proud. that we are playing against the best. We are pretty happy about the overall result, though we have lost all four games, we have enjoyed ourselves. "
