World No. 6 Chinese Taipei has revealed a 22-athlete roster for the Canada Cup, a WBSC-sanctioned women’s softball competition to be played in Surrey from 20-26 June. This event will serve as a preparation for The World Games 2022 in Birmingham, from 9-13 June.
The roster features 10 veterans from the 2019 Chinese Taipei team that finished in second place in the WBSC Asia Oceania Olympic Qualifier in Shanghai, China. Hsia-Ai Ke, the right-handed pitcher who led her team to a silver-medal finish at the WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup in Lima, Peru, last year, has been also put on the list.
Chinese Taipei will start The World Games in Group A, competing against No. 1 USA, No. 3 Canada and No. 7 Italy. The Asian team will face Canada on the first day of play on 9 July, followed by matches against USA and Italy the next two days. The top two teams in the group standings will advance to the semifinals.
