Chinese Taipei claimed the Youth Baseball5 Asia Cup title winning 2-0 in the final against China in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

World No. 2 Chinese Taipei added another medal to their expanding Baseball5 collection, following a 2-0 (10-5, 5-4) victory over China in the final of the Youth Baseball5 Asia Cup on Saturday at the Grand Ballroom in Kuala Lumpur. Chinese Taipei, China and South Korea secured a place in the inaugural WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup, which is due take place later this year.

Chinese Taipei has now collected three medals, including the senior and youth Asian titles and the World Cup bronze medal.

They went through tournament undefeated, winning all eight of their best-of-three-sets, five-inning games in two sets apart from a three-set thriller against China in pool play. Finals day on Saturday saw Chinese Taipei continue the momentum, defeating South Korea in the morning semifinals 2-0 (11-1, 1-0) to advance to the gold medal game against China in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, world No. 12 South Korea triumphed against the hosts and world No. 24 Malaysia 2-1 to claim third place.

A total of seven teams participated in the inaugural event, including Hong Kong, China; Singapore and India.

Chinese Taipei, China and South Korea join France and Türkiye in the inaugural Youth Baseball5 World Cup after the two European nations qualified in November.

The WBSC is in the process of awarding the hosting rights of the WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup, which is a 12-team tournament.
