The extraordinary work done by the maintenance crew gets the Tainan City field ready for the 6.30 game between the hosts Chinese Taipei and Czech Republic. The home team keeps it short and wins (20-0) in 4 innings.
Pai Chen An hit 2 home runs for Chinese Taipei
Before Czech Republic starter Adam Skala can get an out, Chinese Taipei has already manufactured a 4-0 lead. Skala gets started with 3 free passes (2 walks and a hit batter) to the first 3 hitters and catcher Pai Chen An turns his first pitch into a grand slam. At the end of the first frame the lead grows up to 10-0 thanks to 7 more hits, including second baseman Sun Yi Lei triple and right fielder Hsu Chia Chin double and a double by Pai himself in his second at bat of the frame.
While Czech Republic gets on base only because of a couple of defensive errors against starter Chen Ruei Fong, Chinese Taipei keeps swinging for the fences. They add 2 more home runs in the second: by Pai and designated hitter Kuo Shu Wei. At the end of the inning, Chinese Taipei leads 17-0. Second baseman Sun Yi Lei adds a home run in the fourth to make it 20-0.
Lee Chen Lun, Kuo Shu Wei (the only one to give up a base hit: to center fielder Luka Hurta) and Yang Yi Cheng take care of the other 3 czech at bats.
