Colombia defeated Brazil, 9-1, in the gold medal game. Mexico clinched the bronze medal with a 10-2 win against Panama.

The Santiago 2023 Pan American Games baseball competition came to an end on Saturday. World No. 15 Colombia claimed the gold medal after a 9-1 win against No. 24 Brazil in the final game of the competition. For the bronze medal, No. 3 Mexico topped No. 12 Panama by a score of 10-2. The Santiago 2023 baseball tournament took place at the Bicentenario of Cerrillos stadium in Chile’s capital.

In the final game, Colombia beat Brazil, 9-1, scoring runs in almost every inning. Dilson Herrera was the best on offence, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, while Carlos Arroyo went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Victor Vargas earned the win in four innings of work. The loss was charged to Felipe Marcondes.

The gold medal represents Colombia’s first ever Pan American Games title. Their only previous medal had been a bronze in Cali 1971, as host team. For Brazil, their runner's up spot was their first-ever podium finish.
