Colombia: Softball stadium in Bogota to be named after Hall of Fame member Antonio Morales

The renaming of the stadium was approved by the Council of Bogota, with the support of the Colombia National Olympic Committee President, Ciro Solano Hurtado.

The Colombian Softball Federation announced that Salitre Stadium in Bogota will change its name to Antonio “Tony” Morales Arrieta Stadium, to honour the national federation former President and member of the WBSC Softball Executive Board, who passed away in 2021.

The renaming of the stadium was approved by the Council of Bogota, with the support of the National Olympic Committee President, Ciro Solano Hurtado.

Born in Cartagena de Indias, Morales (affectionately known as “Tony”) began serving the sport of softball in 2001 when he was elected president of the Colombian Softball Federation.

Regionally he served as vice president of WBSC Softball Americas and president of the South American Softball Confederation. He was elected WBSC Softball Division Vice Chairman for the Americas during the WBSC Congress held in Gaborone, Botswana, in October 2017.

Morales was inducted into the WBSC Softball Hall of Fame as an administrator in 2013.
