Colombia unveils roster, coaching staff for WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup in Hermosillo
Colombia will open the World Cup in Group B, along with No. 1 Japan, No. 13 Panama and No. 22 France.

World No. 11 Colombia announced its roster for the upcoming WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup, to be played from 26 August to 4 September in Sonora, Mexico. The 20-athlete roster includes the core of the players who earned the ticket for the World Cup in the Americas qualifier hosted in Valencia, Venezuela. Colombia’s manager for the World Cup will be Neder Horta.

Colombia will open against Panama on 26 August at 7:30 pm. Their second game will be against France the day after at 3 pm; closing group play against the top-ranked nation in the world, Japan, on 30 August at 7:30 pm.

The top two teams in the group standings after the Opening Round will advance to the Super Round, from 31 August to 3 September.

The player selected by Horta are:

Alan de Jesús Angulo Puello, Samuel David Arroyo Puello, Angel José Beltrán Mendoza, Diego Alejandro Contreras Reales, José Armando de la Rosa Vázquez, Jor David Díaz Paternina, Iván Alberto Fuentes Pérez, Carlos Eduardo Galindo Zabaleta, Hugo Alberto Hernández Zúñiga, Jesús David Jiménez León, Jannier David Julio Carrascal, Junior Ricardo Paternina Mercado, Juan Manuel Pérez Martínez, Ibrahim Andrés Ricardo Pineda, Camilo José Ríos Lidueñas, José David Sanabria de la Hoz, David Saith Sánchez Anaya, Jean Paul Tamayo Carrascal, Jhosman de Jesús Teherán Otero and Luis Angel Villa Jiménez.

It will be Colombia’s second appearance in the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup, after their sixth-place campaign in the 2016 edition in Iwaki, Japan, where they made the Super Round and finished the tournament with an overall record of 4-4.  

Horta, who managed the Colombian National Baseball Team and was named Colombian Baseball League Manager of the year in 2005, will be joined in the staff by Miguel Teherán Julio (Pitching Coach), Danys Miguel Correa Ellis (Third Base Coach), Jorge Andrés Rodríguez Salcedo (First Base Coach), Ronald Alberto Ramírez Rivera (Trainer) andy Johana Mylene Puerta Cárdenas. The Team Leader will be Carlos Roque García.
