Costa Rica beats Chile in friendly baseball series

Chile won the opener, and Costa Rica came back to sweep the rest of the series.

World No. 78 Costa Rica defeated Chile, ranked 61st in the world, in a friendly baseball series at the Antonio Escarré Ball Park in San José.

Chile won the first game, 8-4, reversing an initial lead by Costa Rica. Third baseman Manuel Zapata stood out defensively early in the game.

The second game was an old-fashioned pitching duel. Taylor Escoto and Miguel Montano limited Chile to one run in the second game, and Costa Rica got to Chilean starter Alberto Diaz in the extra innings and won it 4-1.
