A youth national tournament will be held in February to select the Cuban youth national team to compete in international competition.

With the postponement of the inaugural youth and open Baseball5 World Cup to 2021, the Cuban authorities put their own schedule under review and adapted it to the new international calendar. Cuba has decided to keep its senior preliminary roster, but will now organize a youth national competition in February 2021 to select the players for the youth national team, not only for the World Cup, but also to battle for a spot at the Dakar 2022 Youth Olympic Games, where Baseball5 will make its historic debut.

Cuba aims to earn one of three available spots for the Americas. The Americas and Asia both have three berths allocated to each World Cup. Africa and Europe have two spots and Oceania one. The host country, plus a wild card, will finish the field of teams.

The Cuban senior national team preliminary roster was announced back in February, after the National Championship held in December 2019. The 16-athlete roster, eight men and eight women, is as follows:

  • Yanisel Medina Mesa
  • Chaquira Liana Aspiazu Martínez
