Cuba wins inaugural Caribbean Women's Baseball Cup, Puerto Rico second, Dominican Republic third

Cuba also earned two individual awards: Glenda Donet (MVP) and Eliyannis Estupiñán (best hitter). Puerto Rico's Janiliz Rivera earned the best pitcher award.

Cuba defeated the Dominican Republic, 5-3, in the final game of the first-ever Caribbean Women's Baseball Cup to clinch the best record of the tournament and the championship trophy.

Yanet Cruz went the distance allowing two earned runs on five hits, while striking out three.

Yanileidis Peres went 2-for-4. Yordank Rodriguez went 1-for-2 with two runs batted in.

The Cuban Women's National Baseball Team was received by Cuban Baseball Federation President Juan Perez and other Cuban sporting leaders at the Havana airport upon the team's return home.

Cuba also celebrated a couple of individual awards. Designated hitter and pitcher Glenda Donet earned MVP honours, while left fielder Eliyannis Estupiñán, .571 batting average, received the best hitter's award. Puerto Rico's Janiliz Rivera, with two wins and 11.3 innings pitched, earned best pitcher's honours.

Cuba is currently ranked No. 7 in the WBSC Women's Baseball World Rankings, while Dominican Republic is No. 6 and Puerto Rico is No. 9.
