Czechia to host European Baseball Championship 2023, ticket sales open

The European Baseball Championship will open on 24 September in Ostrava and finish on 1 October in Brno. The 16 participants will split into four groups, with the top two finishers of each group advancing to elimination games. Brno will host the final on 1 October. Online ticket sales opened on 2 March.

Czechia will host the 2023 Baseball European Championship from 24 September to 1 October. The tournament will consist of 48 games and involve five cities.

The 16 participants are split into four groups:

Group A (Ostrava) World No. 21 Spain, No. 27 Austria, No. 16 Czechia and No. 37 Greece
Group B (Trebic) World No. 12 Italy, No. 39 Sweden, No. 20 Great Britain and No. 47 Hungary
Group C (Brno) World No. 8 Netherlands, No. 31 Ukraine, No. 30 Croatia and No. 22 France
Group D (Prague) World No. 18 Israel, No. 19 Germany, No. 25 Belgium and No. 44 Switzerland

The top two finishers of each group will advance to the quarterfinals, scheduled on Thursday, 28 September, in Blansko and Brno. The semifinals and finals are scheduled in Brno. The European Championship game is scheduled at 6.30 pm local time on Sunday, 1 October.

The local organizing committee opened online ticket sales on 2 March.

It will be the 27th edition of the European Championship, inaugurated in 1954 in Antwerp, Belgium. The Netherlands are the four-time defending champions.

The Dutch have won 24 of 36 editions. Italy has earned 10 titles. Spain (1955) and Belgium (1967) are the other nations to have claimed a win.
