Delwendé wins Burkina Faso National Baseball Championship

The 12-team tournament was played on 13-14 August in the nation's capital, Ouagadougou. Geoffrey Yameogo earned MVP honors.

The Delwendé Baseball Club from Gounghin defeated the Avenir Baseball Club from Fada N'Gourma to win the Burkina Faso National Baseball Championship. The 12-team tournament was played on 13th and 14th August at the Wayalquin multi-sport facility in the nation's capital, Ouagadougou.

Bobo's Catfish finished third and Koudougou placed fourth.

Geoffrey Yameogo of Koudougou was named the tournament's best player (MVP). Lazare Guissou was voted the best hitter.

The Avenir club earned the team's Fair Play prize.

At the closing ceremony, the president of the Baseball Softball Federation of Burkina Faso (FBBS, Fédération Burkinabè de Baseball et Softball) Ibrahima Sibore hosted the Ambassador of Japan to Burkina Faso, Masaaki Kato, representatives of the Japan Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation.

El Hadj Malick Kouanda, Member of the National Assembly, represented the Railway Management Company (SOPAFER-B), the ceremony's sponsor. FBBS partners such as Aigle Royal, K-Risme, Ringo also attended the ceremony.
