The 38-year-old Women's Baseball National Team veteran made history in 2019, becoming the first woman to compete in the men's league.

Diamilette Quiles, who made history in 2019 when she became the first woman to play in Puerto Rico's Superior Double-A baseball league, has accepted a role on the coaching staff of the Montañeses de Utuado for the 2023 Double-A season. She will serve under manager Efrain Cano Garcia.

"It's an honour to have Quiles on our coaching staff," commented president Omar Méndez.

Quiles, 38, is a 13-season veteran of the women's Double-A league. She has represented Puerto Rico in two WBSC Women's Baseball World Cups and in the 2015 Pan American Games. She starred in the 2018 Women's Baseball World Cup, going 10-for-23, with a .435 batting average. She appeared in two games at the IX WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup Americas Qualifier in 2022.
