Documentary on Japan's 2023 World Baseball Classic run enjoys huge success

During three weeks in June, 850,000 people watched the movie in 136 theatres. Amazon's Prime Video started distributing it in July.

A documentary film about Japan’s 2023 World Baseball Classic victory enjoyed great success in theatres and earned Amazon's Prime Video distribution.

During three weeks in June, 850,000 people, many wearing their Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) favourite team uniform, watched the movie in 136 theatres.

Director Shuntaro Miki commented, "Many people enjoyed the World Baseball Classic. This movie will take you behind the scenes, starting from the training camp and through the tournament. Will help you live the excitement again."

Hideki Kuriyama, who managed Samurai Japan to their third World Baseball Classic and became the first Japanese World Champion skipper, added, "This movie will serve as one page of Japanese baseball history for the next generation."
