Dominican Republic signs deal to support development of baseball in South Africa

Dominican Baseball Federation president Juan Núñez said his organisation will "support the agreement to showcase our country and its number one sport and boost baseball development in all of Africa."

The Dominican Republic has signed a collaboration deal with South Africa named Baseball Diplomacy. The Dominican Ministry of Foreign Affairs promoted the initiative.

The Dominican Republic National Baseball Federation (FEDOM) participated in the signing ceremony, officiated by the South African Federation president Marc Moreau and the Dominican Baseball Commissioner Junior Noboa, a former Major League Baseball (MLB) second baseman with the Cleveland Indians, California Angels, Montreal Expos, New York Mets, Oakland Athletics and Pittsburgh Pirates.

"FEDOM wishes to thank the entities and personalities involved in this deal," commented Federation president Juan Núñez. "[We commit] to contribute whatever is necessary to support the agreement to showcase our country and its number one sport and boost baseball development in all of Africa."
