The 2021 edition will be a four-team league. The Dominican Federation plans a joint venture with the professional Winter League in 2022.

The Dominican Summer League opened its 2021 season last Friday, 10 September.

The league is in its 11th consecutive season. The four participating teams include defending champions Granjeros de Moca, the Indios de La Vega, the Mineros de Bonao and the Arroceros de San Francisco. The clubs are all based in the Cibao region.

The Andulleros de Santiago and the Tiburones de Puerto Plata are two more affiliated clubs participating in the 2021 edition.

The regular season will run through Friday, 1 October.

The plan for the 2022 season is to make the Summer League a joint venture with the professional Winter League (LIDOM). The six LIDOM franchises plan to have a club in the Summer League.
