Dominican Republic to host tryouts for U-23 Men’s National Softball Team

Dominican Republic aims to qualify for the maiden WBSC U-23 Men’s Softball World Cup, to be played in Parana, Argentina, from 22-30 October.

The Dominican Softball Federation (FEDOSA), announced a U-23 men’s softball tryout in the city of Mao in Valverde from 5-6 March. Eight teams will participate in the showcase, with more than 130 players being observed to form the national team.

The Dominican Republic aims to qualify for the maiden WBSC U-23 Men’s Softball World Cup, to be played in Parana, Argentina, from 22-30 October.

The eight teams have been drawn into two groups. Santiago, Bonao, the National District and Puerto Plata will play in Group A, while Pueblo Nuevo, Esperanza, Santiago Rodríguez and Mao will do the same in Group B. The two best teams in each group advance to Sunday's finals. 

“We have a lot of talent in our country, which we are going to rescue to improve the generational change of our teams in the different WBSC categories, aiming to have a good participation at the end of the Olympic cycle, in the Pan American events”, said FEDOSA President Garibaldy Bautista.

The Dominican Republic is ranked No. 35 in the WBSC Men’s Softball World Rankings.
