St. Petersburg, FL-The Netherlands took advantage of six Canada Junior National Team errors en route to an 8-2 victory at historic Al Lang Field.

The Juniors held a 3-2 lead through three innings of play, but the Dutch scored twice in the top of the fourth and never looked back the rest of the way.

Ryan Kellogg (Whitby, ON) made his second start of the St. Petersburg International Baseball Series and pitched well going three innings and giving up only one run on two hits, while striking out two batters.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Daniel Pinero (Toronto, ON) hit into a fielder’s choice with the bases loaded and nobody out which scored Gareth Morgan (Toronto, ON) from third base.

Morgan and Brett Siddall (Windsor, ON) started the inning with back-to-back singles and Chris Shaw (Winnipeg, MB) walked to load the bases.

In the third, Jamar Burnette (Toronto, ON) hit a two-out, opposite field double to left, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored when Jacob Robson (Windsor, ON) laced a single to left-field to give the Juniors a one-run lead.

The Dutch responded in the top of the fourth with two runs off of Cal Quantrill (Port Hope, ON) who took over for Kellogg.

Back-to-back doubles followed by a single scored two to put the Netherlands back on top and give them a lead they would not relinquish.

Down 5-2 in the home half of the fifth, the Juniors had a chance to make some noise as Shaw led-off with a walk and Bryan Saucedo (Toronto, ON) hit a one-out single. Both runners were left on base after a strikeout and groundout to end the inning.

In total, the Juniors left seven runners on base throughout the game.

Quantrill started strong in the fifth with a strikeout and groundout before he gave up a walk and two singles which plated another Dutch run.

Clayton Isherwood (Van Anda, BC) came out of the bull-pen in the top of the sixth down 5-2 and another run scored on a stolen base with the throw from behind the plate going into centerfield allowing the runner from third base to trot home.

Isherwood closed out the eighth and threw 2 1/3 innings giving up two runs on three hits, while striking out one batter.
