Espoo Expos win Finland National Baseball Championship

For the first time in the history of Finnish baseball, official leagues were played across three different levels.

The Espoo Expos re-claimed the Finnish title sweeping the defending champions Tampere Tigers in the final series in three games. The Expos outscored the Tigers in the series by 36-8. For the first time in the history of Finnish baseball, official leagues were played across three different levels.

In the second division, the XL-5 went through the whole season losing only one game. However, they had to battle until the very last inning of the final against the Nokia White Sox to clinch the title, 7-6.

Meanwhile, the Hyvinkään Tahko clinched the first Supercup title, a new league established for the Pesäpallo (Finnish version of baseball) clubs that have started to adopt baseball to their program.

This league was made possible by a donation of equipment by the WBSC, which helped facilitate the adaption of baseball in the Pesäpallo clubs' sports programs.
