European Baseball: Neptunus Rotterdam and Draci Brno crowned again

“Usual suspects” win in baseball in the Old World: Neptunus Rotterdam claim 5th straight title, number 18 overall, in The Netherlands. Draci Brno win Czech Republic Extra Liga pennant for the 21st time

Neptunus Rotterdam won for the fifth straight year the Dutch Hoofdsklasse. The defending European Champions for clubs defeated 4 games to 1 Amsterdam L&D in the best of 7 Holland Series. Neptunus celebrated pennant number 18 with a 6-5 comeback win (highlighted by a ninth inning 4 run rally) in Amsterdam.
Pitcher Orlando Yintema was presented with the team trophy. Neptunus players delegated him to honor his comeback from severe illness.

Draci Brno confirmed themselves as the Czech Republic Extra Liga Champions defeating 3 games to 1 Arrows Ostrava in the best of 5 final series. It’s their league title number 21.
The series was much closer than it may look, since every single game was decided in the very last inning. Draci won (6-5) game 4 with veteran Pavel Budsky contributing with 3 hits and Petr Minarik earning the win in relief.

The season is not over for Czech Baseball. The National Team is now in North Carolina (USA) for 7 exhibition games against College teams. The last game is scheduled for Tuesday, 17 October.
