WBSC Europe continued its strategic journey towards streamlining its scoring and game management processes with a key workshop focused on the My.WBSC platform.
My.WBSC is a management system that the WBSC offers to all the continental associations. It is instrumental to facilitating event and data management.
A total of 85 participants representing 53 National Federations and/or clubs from Europe attended the webinar on Tuesday, which gave an insight into the operational tools to use the platform and the benefits, namely streamlined data and promotion of content.
"During the WBSC Congress in Japan in 2019, we were introduced to the whole management system used by the WBSC," said WBSC Europe Co-President Gabriel Waage, who opened the webinar. "At that time, it was also announced that regional confederations would be able to use this system to unify all information regarding statistics, data, scoring all over the world, which is a great idea to have."
Waage added: "Following the impact of the Covid pandemic in 2020, we decided to implement the system in 2021 because we believe that this system will help everyone. Now we have extended it to club level, so in the long term, I do hope this system will be used all around the world, across all the continents, because it will unify baseball and softball information all around the world."
WBSC IT Manager Paul Macaluso and IT Officer Pietro Isola introduced the participants to the system's guidelines. The webinar also included an explanation of the login process, how to create or edit a person, enter an event, upload officials and create a team roster.
Other panellists were WBSC Membership Manager Francesca Fabretto, the liaison for Europe, and WBSC Europe officials: Scoring Director Linda Steijger, Communication Director Elda Ghilardi and Assistant to the Secretary-General Kristina Uroic.
