Evert Jan ‘t Hoen new manager of Dutch Baseball National Team

The new skipper enjoyed a respectable career as a professional player in the USA Minor Leagues and represented his country in 3 Olympics, 3 World Cups, 1 World Baseball Classic. As a manager he won 4 Dutch titles for Neptunus Rotterdam

Tjerk Smeets, the Technical Director of the Dutch Federation (KNBSB), named Evert Jan ‘t Hoen the manager of the Baseball National Team.
The Netherlands are number 9 in WBSC World Ranking.

Evert Jean ‘t Hoen was born in 1975 in Alphen aan den Rijn, in the south of The Netherlands, and was drafted out of Indian River Community College by the California Angels in 1995. A middle infielder, he played 485 Minor League games in the Angels organization through the 2001 season, including 66 at the AAA level. He retired as a player after the 2007 season.

He represented The Netherlands internationally in 3 Olympic Games (Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004), in the 2006 World Baseball Classic and in 3 IBAF World Cups (Italy 1998, Taiwan 2001, The Netherlands 2005). He was part of 4 Dutch European Champion teams: 1995, 2003 (The Netherlands), 1999 (Italy) and 2005 (Czech Republic).

As a manager, Evert Jan ‘t Hoen led Neptunus Rotterdam to 4 Dutch Hoofdsklasse Championships in a row.
He was an assistant coach for Eric De Bruin, the manager for The Netherlands, during the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in Thunder Bay (Ontario, Canada).
